Iron pictures, an art form identified with the city of Wuhu, Anhu Province, was developed in the seventeenth century. Blacksmith hammer wrought iron into pictures, taking the effect of Chinese brush painting of great masters. Once completed, they are mounted in lanterns, picture frames, or screens.
